Terms & Conditions of Sling Hire
• Safety: Your baby’s safety is your responsibility. Please check the sling often and use the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure correct usage. Inspect all seams and buckles before putting your baby into any carrier and if there is any question about its safety DO NOT USE IT. Please contact us regarding any safety issues as soon as possible.
• If you need further instruction on how to use this carrier, you can refer to manufacturer’s instructions, watch online tutorial videos, attend a Sling Meet or arrange a one to one Babywearing Consultation. You can also email me and I will send you some links to YouTube tutorials that may help you.
• Please ensure you mark the return date of the rented sling in your diary, so that other people can borrow and try slings and we may avoid undue interruptions to the lending service. Each late day is charged at €1.
• Always refer to the T.I.C.K.S. guidelines for safe babywearing each time you carry your baby in a sling.
• Please contact me in advance of the return date to arrange a suitable date & time for returning the sling to me. If returning the sling/carrier by post, please send by insured & registered post to ensure you can obtain proof of delivery in the event of any problems arising. Return by Parcel Motel (with additional insurance option) is also available. To obtain my Parcel Motel details, please contact me.
• Please note that I offer DOOR STEP COLLECTION only. I am unable to offer any on-the-spot demonstrations.
• Deposit: A deposit is no longer being taken for sling hire. We want slings to be accessible to all and we have kept our sling hire fees at the same price for the last number of years.
Care of Carriers:
1. Under no circumstances is it permitted to smoke whilst wearing or holding the carrier. Increased laundering costs will be billed to the renter of the sling if it is returned smelling of smoke.
2. All slings and carriers are washed upon their return from sling hire. Do not wash the carrier unless necessary. If you are washing the carrier, a very small amount of liquid detergent without optical brighteners, such as detergent marked for "Colour" is to be used. The reason optical brighteners are not recommended for use when washing slings is that it can effect the material causing spotty discolouration and bleach-like marbling. Buckle carriers are to be placed in a mesh bag or pillow case, with all buckles closed, other slings do not need to be placed in a mesh bag. All slings and carriers are to be washed at 30 degrees with a reduced spin of 1000 if that option is available. Do not use fabric softener and do not tumble dry under any circumstances. For small stains, we would recommend spot cleaning with a damp cloth. You can dry the sling/carrier on a clothes horse, on a washing line, over a bannister etc. Please do not place it directly on a heat source such as a radiator etc. We check and clean all carriers regularly ourselves. If you feel it is necessary that the carrier is cleaned while on loan to you, and you are unsure of anything, please contact us first for advice. Please be assured during these times of Covid-19 that all slings are being hygiene laundered and stored in sealed containers upon return from hire.
3. We cannot guarantee that there are no marks on the carriers we lend. If you notice any visible marks or damage to the sling you've received, please contact me and I will arrange a replacement sling for you if required.
4. We cannot guarantee that there are no animal hairs on our carriers, but we ask that all carriers are kept away from pets to minimise this possibility. Increased laundering costs will be billed to the renter of the sling in the event of a sling being returned covered in animal hair. If you are very allergic to animal hairs, please request that the carrier be checked before you borrow it to help reduce any potential reaction.
5. Food and posset marks are expected when carrying children and are easy to spot clean with tepid water and a cloth. Please keep the sling away from anything that may stain more permanently (oil, paint, pens, hair or make up products, nail varnish etc.), or anything that might damage it (scissors, velcro, keys in your bag, fire, etc)
6. If returning the sling/carrier by post, please send by registered/ & insured post to ensure you can obtain proof of delivery in the event of any problems arising. Return by Parcel Motel is also available (with adequate insurance cover to insure the retail value of the sling - this is available to purchase via Parcel Motel when you're placing your label order). To obtain my Parcel Motel details, please contact me. Please note that it is your responsibility to send the parcel via registered/insured post or insured Parcel Motel as you are liable for the sling in transit. The full cost of replacement of the sling will be billed to you in the event of loss or damage in return transit.
7. Condition of carrier: All slings and carriers are thoroughly checked before sending out on hire. You are asked to check through the carrier/sling yourself when you receive it. If you find something amiss with your hired sling, i.e. a tear or hole, pulled thread, broken buckle, missing button or any other damage, please notify us within 24hours of receiving the sling to arrange return and refund or replacement. Should you damage a sling or carrier you have hired, the full cost of replacement of the sling will be payable by you.
