Leanbh - Irish word for baby. Pronounced lan-av
Leanbh Babywearing is run by Abina, a mam of 5 with a huge grá (love) for Babywearing.
I have used various slings and carriers for many years with my own 5 children. I have enjoyed helping others out with their own slings at informal peer support sling meets and in various mother & baby groups I attended over the years and so when the chance came up to make a career change, I was very excited to start my training with Trageschule UK to become a Babywearing Consultant.
I am a Certified Trageschule trained Babywearing Consultant and have committed to undertake further training and continuous professional development.
From 2013 to 2022, I have been a volunteer with Babywearing Ireland, facilitating a monthly sling meet as Fingal Babywearing Ireland which is held in the St Colmcille's GAA Club, Swords. I have enjoyed meeting parents there, offering them an introduction to slings and running the sling library. In 2012 to 2014 I set up and facilitated a local Swords Friends of Breastfeeding group, which was breastfeeding peer support and a social outlet for local mams. In 2022, I took a position on the Babywearing Ireland Committee as Volunteer Support and am enjoying my role and supporting the sling libraries.
I am listed with Trageschule UK and Babywearing Ireland and I have in place a comprehensive Professional Liability Insurance Policy specifically written for Babywearing Consultants.
I am enjoying providing families with a tailor made service to suit their own Babywearing requirements, in the comfort of their own home and also via online babywearing consultations.
When Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns started, there were huge changes in how I could run my business. Babywearing consultations were moved online and I had to adapt a new business model to successfully create and host sling lessons online. I resumed In-Person Babywearing Consultations in April 2021 and I will also continue offering online babywearing consultations using Zoom. While moving things online was a new experience both for myself and my clients, working online has it's own benefits too in that I've gotten to help parents from all over the country that I'd never have had the opportunity to meet before. The sling hire service is very popular and many people are finding it handy to hire the sling by post in advance of their online babywearing consultation. It's a great way to try before you buy and to I will help you choose what sling or carrier that will suit you best.
The Babywearing world can seem such a minefield at first; confusing abbreviations, a huge variety of sling and carrier options, all made of various types of materials, available in a huge array of colours and patterns. How do you know you're choosing the most suitable carrier for you and your baby? From newborn to preschool age, there's a carrier or sling for each parent and child. I have a large selection of slings and carriers available for you to try out at a consultation or to hire for a short period. I'm available to give advice on slings and carriers to help families choose the best option for their needs.
Having started my babywearing consultancy training in 2014 and I opened my online shop in early 2016, I feel that I can offer a complete service to families looking to purchase a carrier and master how to use it.
